Fall, Winter & Spring Volunteer Opportunities:
Volunteer opportunities for community service credit are available throughout the school year. We will have community service hours available on Saturdays from 10am-12 noon helping out at our Craft Corner. We will only schedule two volunteers each week so please contact the Children’s Department if you would like to volunteer.
To schedule a volunteering session please call the Children’s Department at 516-221-1200
Book Reviews may be completed throughout the school year for community service credit as well. Read any book you choose and complete the form. These reviews may be posted on our website as peer recommendations and are each worth one hour of community service.
All review forms may be returned to Jennifer at the Young Adult desk in the library or emailed to email@example.com
Summer Volunteer Opportunities:
VIVs (Very Important Volunteers)
Students entering grades 6-12 in the upcoming school year are eligible to be VIVs. VIVs help the librarians with the Children’s Summer Reading Club. They register children for the reading club, give out prizes when children check-in throughout the summer, and assist with other simple tasks. Volunteers are awarded community service for their participation as VIVs.
Tech Tuesday Volunteers
Volunteers will help a little buddy discover the world of tech toys. We will have Ozobots, Snapcircuit sets, Code-a-pillars and Spheros for kids explore, learn and play with. All volunteers must be entering grades 9-12 in September. You may choose one or more dates to volunteer. Please register for each date separately.
Reading & Play Buddies
Reading & Play Buddies are enthusiastic middle school students who volunteer to spend time reading, coloring and interacting with preschool age children. All volunteers must be entering grades 6-8 in September. You may choose one or more dates to volunteer. Please register for each date separately.
